How the Fund Works
Preparation begins before the call for help.
The Kwania food distribution has taken place, and its fundraising campaign continues as GVC's ongoing Emergency Aid Fund. Giving throughout the year helps put resources in place before an urgent request arrives.
The fund supports preparation, assessment, and locally verified emergency assistance, including food relief and its delivery. Our team checks needs on the ground and develops a budget for each response.
Verify
Our Uganda-based team visits, documents the situation, and assesses the households involved.
Respond
The team builds a time-limited budget, purchases locally where practical, and coordinates distribution.
Report
We publish what was raised, purchased, distributed, and learned through follow-up.
Food Distribution Completed
Kwania Emergency Food Response
During the July 2026 assessment, 47 of 49 households reported having no food stored. Forty-five had eaten one meal the previous day; four had eaten none. GVC has since delivered food relief. This response informs our ongoing work to prepare for future emergencies.

After the Emergency
Every response adds to what we learn.
After a response, donors should be able to see what happened. GVC reports the quantities purchased, households reached, spending, distribution process, and what the team learned afterward.
