Our work

Scholarships that keep children in school
GVC currently supports students whose families could not otherwise afford school fees, supplies, or boarding. Each scholarship helps a child stay enrolled, safe, and moving toward graduation.
Economic development that starts at home
Rural households gain the skills, resources, and practical coaching to earn steadier income, support their families, and strengthen the community around them.
Self-sustaining family assets
The goat program helps families build a living asset: offspring can be bred to expand the herd or sold to pay for school fees, medicines, and food.
Lasting change begins with listening. The people we work with already know what they are fighting for: a child staying in school, a business that earns enough to feed a household, a safe place to grow up, and a future that does not depend on crisis. GVC works close to the ground to help turn that determination into opportunity that lasts.

We are a small organization with a clear playbook: stay close to the communities where we work, track our work honestly, and send 100% of donations directly to the field.

We do not parachute in. Every program runs in villages where we have been on the ground, and our team has visited the homes.

After losing her husband, young widowed mother of six Annet Nelima used GVC business training and 300,000 UGX in goat sales to launch a thriving food kiosk, funding school uniform and shoes for her youngest child.
Annet sold two goats for 300,000 UGX (about $80 USD) to open a food kiosk in the trading center, earning 15,000 to 20,000 UGX (about $4.00 to $5.30 USD) daily to feed her six children three meals a day and buy school uniforms and shoes.

Our work is local, community-led, and built on trusted relationships. Today, the active operational hub is centered in Uganda. As support grows, this model can expand with more rural communities across Eastern Africa.

The many wonderful friends and associations Joanne has made throughout her 25 years of travel showed her the importance of peer relationships between people from different cultures. After adopting her youngest child from Ethiopia, she resolved that no parent should have to give up a child due to a lack of food and basic resources, as some do in developing countries in order to give their children what they need.
For the last ten years she’s been facilitating projects that connect children with opportunities to be successful, and that help communities become economically self-sufficient.
