Meet Asio: How Your Support Helped a Mother of Three Launch a Firewood Business
With GVC business training, Lukia Asio turned 40,000 shillings of capital into a firewood business that supports her three children.
My name is Lukia Asio. I am 31 years old and I am a mother of three. Today, I earn 3,000 shillings daily from selling firewood. Before, providing for my children was a constant worry, and opportunities to earn a stable income were limited. When I attended a business training organized by Global Village Connect, I gained knowledge and confidence that inspired me to begin something of my own.
With determination, I raised 40,000 shillings as my starting capital and began buying and selling firewood in my community. Firewood is a daily necessity for many families, and I committed myself to working consistently, preparing bundles and reaching customers wherever I could. What began as a small effort soon became a reliable source of income for my household—joining other GVC firewood merchants like Susan and Dorothy.

Today, my work helps me provide basic needs for my children and brings stability to our home. I am proud that through hard work and discipline, I can support my family and plan for a better future. Each day’s earnings represent hope and progress in our lives.
I am deeply thankful to Global Village Connect for the training that opened my eyes to new possibilities. With continued effort and support, I believe my small business will grow and create lasting change for my family.
